"The last rays of the setting sun hit the sea stacks and cliffs of the Twelve Apostles. The quality of the light just got better and better as the sun slowly set, intensifying the orange-brown of the sandstone cliffs. The scene was set off by the sunlit cloud hugging the rugged coastline. Also at this time, a small group of Blue Penguins returned to their burrows at the foot of the cliffs after a days feeding. Postscript: A year and a half after these shots were taken, the closest sea stack in these pictures completely collapsed, making this photograph now unrepeatable." |
