"Waiting for fish scraps at Kingscote quayside, a small group of Pelicans were tame enough to approach within a few metres, as they perched on the waterside rocks. The dark waters of the harbour behind the birds, created a perfect foil for many of the shots taken here. Feeding almost exclusively on fish, the Pelican has a distinctive gular pouch that together with a flexible lower mandible can be used as a kind of fishing net." |
