"The packhorse bridge at Ashness must be one of the most photographed places in the Lake District. Most photographs here are taken on the other side of the bridge, showing a classic Lake District view of the bridge, surrounding fells, and distant lake. I think this can end up producing quite unoriginal compositions. On this side of the bridge, without any distant mountains in view, photographs can lack some of the sense of depth of the better known view; however I find the different perspective more rewarding as a final result"
